My name is Shaya Lyon Loney. I grew up in Berkeley, CA and went to college at New York University in NYC. Then, planning to go for a semester, I ended up in Israel for a decade.
In that time, I’ve had some interesting jobs. I worked for the human rights group B’Tselem, as well as the Truman Institute for the Advancement of Peace, a think tank at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Enticed by breaking news and printing presses, I spent some years at The Jerusalem Post, Israel’s leading English daily newspaper. I dug in to a few positions there – everything from graphic layout and copy-editing on the night news desk to editing the weekend magazine. When I finally left the paper 5 years later, I was pumping adrenaline as night news editor. What a ride that was.
Eventually, I left journalism for hi-tech. I’m currently associate product manager for wiki.Answers.com, which is a whole new kind of excitement.
Off the resume, I’m an artist. I enjoy working with paper and glass. I sell or give away most of what I make – some pictures are posted on my web site.
That’s all about me.
